The remains of numerous Columbian Mammoths were discovered in and around a creek bed near Waco, and the property was developed into a public park and research facility managed jointly by the City of Waco, Baylor University and the National Park Service. Phase one includes a small visitor center and a climate-controlled enclosure for the active dig site.
